Setting Up A Dial-Up Connection Directions may vary. If you h ave any additional questions, please contact technical support at 352-7000. Before you can use a dial-up Internet connection you need to set up an account. Accounts are available by contacting Webster-Calhoun at 352-3151 and completing a form which includes choosing a username and password. Open Network Connections:
3. Mark the circle next to Connect to the Internet, Click Next.
4. Choose to set up the connection manually using the information provided to you by WCCTA.net. Click Next.
5. Choose to connect using a dial-up modem, click Next. 6. Insert the name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider) in the blank. In the example WCCTA is typed. Then click Next.
7. The dial-up telephone number is included on your account settings document. This number, 352-6001, is a local number for all Webster-Calhoun customers. There is NO need to insert the 1 or area code. Then click Next.
Note: In some situations you may need to enter additional numbers in this box. For example, if you subscribe to WCCTA’s cancel call waiting service (to cancel call waiting for the duration of the phone call) you would need to add *70, 352-6001 8. The next question determines who you would like this connection available to. Some computers require a logon with usernames and passwords for security purposes or to allow each user to personalize their settings. Then click Next.
9. Your username and password are included on the account settings document provided by WCCTA.net. Enter this information exactly as it appears on the document. Then click Next.
10. You have successfully created a connection! Click Finish to complete the process. An icon will appear on your computer’s desktop. You can click on this icon to connect to the Internet then open any other software programs to use the connection. For example, Internet Explorer to browse web sites or Outlook Express to send and receive e-mail. You can also set up these programs to use this as the default Internet connection and automatically dial up when the program is opened.
